Rumi quote

Load the ship and set out. No one knows for certain whether the vessel will sink or reach the harbor. Cautious people say, "I'll do nothing until I can be sure". Merchants know better. If you do nothing, you lose. Don't be one of those merchants who wont risk the ocean. - Rumi

Getting settled in Boerne

Hi!!!

Well, it looks as if it's been about 10 days since I arrived in Texas, and I have to say, I really love it here. There were 2 or 3 days of culture shock, I admit. Here in Boerne, it feels as if we are a hundred miles from anything. Things are much more spread out, not at all "on top" of each other -- houses come with land - usually lots of it! - and instead of a store or restaurant being right down the block, it's one or two exits off the freeway. Northwest San Antonio, however, is just a 10 minute drive, offering every type of store or restaurant ('bright lights, big city") you can imagine. We really do enjoy the best of both worlds here - country and city - all at our fingertips.

There is a porch swing in the back yard where I spend a good deal of time relaxing and breathing in the fresh Texas air.... missing my friends and family and especially, missing Paige... At the same time, I'm also very grateful for the feeling of comfortability here, kind of like a feeling of being "home" already, and a certainty that I've landed myself in just the right place. And my roomates - my friend Susan, her son Ryan, and my new pal Michelle - they make the journey fun and full of laughter, and I love them for it.

Hope you are all doing wonderfully... I think of you all, especially when I am sitting on that back porch swing, counting my blessings.... Smiles and please keep in touch! Rhonda
