Rumi quote

Load the ship and set out. No one knows for certain whether the vessel will sink or reach the harbor. Cautious people say, "I'll do nothing until I can be sure". Merchants know better. If you do nothing, you lose. Don't be one of those merchants who wont risk the ocean. - Rumi

Free TV

I dropped my cable TV service today. I know this probably doesn't qualify as something that will bring passion to my life or music, but it was a bad experience that took me down a very nice road.

Our cable tv provider has the worst customer service on the planet, and I got really fed up paying good money to another corporate giant that continues to hire an overwhelming percentage of employees that don't care about their job, their customers or the company they work for. So today I had enough, and cut my cable TV.

I have to take a second here and justify my newly acquired TV habit. Three years ago, I didn't know what NICS stood for or who the heck was Simon Cowell. But being indoors as much as we are here with the summer heat, I've picked up a nasty little TV habit that has some of my friends thinking I've lost my mind.

Once I had the cable officially turned off and returned the DVR box, I decided to do some internet surfing to find out if any of my favorite shows are available to watch for free on the internet. I was surprised to find out that almost all of my favorite shows are now free to watch online. Which has me currently adding numbers in my head totaling up all of the money I've thrown down the drain in the last 2 years.

Check out the links on my sidebar if you want to cut your cable tv too...multiply your cable tv bill by 12 months and it might start to sound good :)
